Don’t Get Caught Out

It’s no secret that we’re all feeling the effects of the recession and with money being tight the prospect of choosing a contractor based merely on cost may be tempting.

You should however bear in mind that skilled trades people will not be cheap and therefore as the cost falls so too will the quality of your job; it’s therefore no surprise that last year alone 4.6 million jobs were reported as being inadequate because cost was the deciding factor.

When choosing a contractor you should consider the following:

  • Is the quality of their work inspected by an official organisation?
  • Do they have the relevant insurances?
  • Will they show you examples of previous work?
  • Are their staff properly trained and accredited?
  • Will they offer you a warranty?
